Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get my hands on one of those fancy Yves Saint Laurent bags for a while now. You know, the ones with the big YSL logo that everyone’s crazy about? I finally decided to go for it and try to remake the YSL JUNE BOX BAG, which is a classic style that looks like a, well, a box!

First, I started looking around online to see what these bags are all about. Turns out, “YSL Saint Laurent Bag” just means it’s from that super famous brand, and they have tons of different styles. This “June Box Bag” caught my eye because it’s kinda simple but still looks really classy.

Getting the Materials

Since I wasn’t about to drop a fortune on a real one, I figured I’d try to remake it myself. I checked out some descriptions and found out they’re made of 100% lambskin. Lambskin! Sounds fancy, right? I went to my local fabric store and managed to find some pretty decent lambskin. They didn’t have the exact color I wanted, but I got something close enough.

The bag also has this diamond-quilted overstitching thing going on. Basically, it’s like a pattern of little diamonds stitched all over the bag. To do this part, I just used a regular sewing machine and followed a pattern I drew out on paper. It was a bit tricky at first, but I got the hang of it after a few tries.

Putting It All Together

Next up was the YSL closure, the metal thingy that holds the bag shut. I couldn’t find an exact replica, so I found a similar-looking metal piece that also used. It wasn’t perfect, but it did the job and looked good.

  • I cut out the lambskin according to the measurements I found online: 19 X 15 X 8 CM, which is about 7.5 X 6 X 3.1 inches.
  • Then, I carefully stitched the pieces together, making sure the quilted pattern lined up properly.
  • I added the metal closure to the front flap, which was a bit fiddly, but I managed to secure it in place.

The Final Touches

The last step was to add the strap. I decided to use a simple leather strap that I also found at the fabric store. I attached it to the sides of the bag using some metal rings, and that was it!

My homemade YSL June Box Bag was finally done! It wasn’t an exact replica, of course, but it looked pretty darn close, if I do say so myself. And the best part? I made it with my own two hands, and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. I’m pretty proud of how it turned out, and I’ve been using it everywhere. It’s a great conversation starter, and people are always surprised when I tell them I made it myself. It just goes to show that you don’t need to spend a ton of money to have something stylish and unique. And hey, maybe I’ll even try making other bag styles in the future! Who knows.
