Best Remake PRADA Re-Edition 1995 Bag Quote: Find the Chaine Re-Nylon Mini You Want

Okay, so I got this idea the other day while I was scrolling through my Instagram feed. I saw this super chic post about a Prada bag, the Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Mini-Bag. Yeah, it’s a mouthful, I know. Anyway, I thought, “Why not try to remake this?” I mean, I’ve dabbled in a bit of crafting and sewing, so I figured it would be a fun little project. Plus, who doesn’t love a good challenge, right?

First things first, I had to get my hands on some materials. I did a bit of digging online and found out that the original bag is made from something called Re-Nylon. Apparently, it’s some kind of recycled material. Pretty neat, huh? I managed to find a similar fabric at a local fabric store – not exactly Re-Nylon, but it had that same sleek, slightly glossy look. So, I grabbed a yard of that and a few other bits and bobs like a gold chain, some black leather for the details, and some sturdy thread.

Once I had all my materials laid out, I started by sketching out the design. I had a bunch of screenshots of the bag from different angles, which was super helpful. I’m no artist, but I managed to draw a rough outline of the bag’s shape and dimensions. It’s a pretty simple design, thankfully – mostly rectangular with a bit of a curve at the top.

Next up was cutting out the fabric. This was probably the most nerve-wracking part because once you cut, there’s no going back, you know? I carefully pinned my makeshift pattern to the fabric and started cutting. It wasn’t perfect, but hey, it was close enough. Then I used my sewing machine and sewed the fabric pieces together. I just went for a simple top-stitch, like I saw on some of the close-up photos online.

The chain was a bit tricky. I had to figure out how to thread it with the leather strips I’d cut out. It took a few tries, some YouTube tutorials, and a lot of patience, but I finally got it to look somewhat decent. Attaching the chain to the bag was another story. I had to punch a couple of holes in the fabric and use some heavy-duty thread to secure it properly.

  • Sketching the design based on online images
  • Cutting the fabric using a rough pattern
  • Sewing the fabric pieces together with a top-stitch
  • Threading the chain with leather strips
  • Attaching the chain to the bag

After a few days of working on and off on this project, I finally finished it! It’s not an exact replica, obviously. There are some imperfections here and there, and the stitching isn’t as clean as a professional job. But overall, I’m pretty proud of how it turned out.

The Final Result

It’s got that same boxy shape and the quilted look, and the gold chain definitely adds a touch of luxury. It’s not perfect, but it’s my own little version of the Prada Re-Edition 1995. Plus, I made it myself, which makes it even more special. I might even try making another one, maybe in a different color this time. Who knows? This little project might just turn into a new hobby!
