Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to remake this Prada Galleria Saffiano leather bag for a while now. You know, the big one, the large size. It’s a classic, super iconic, but let me tell you, it’s not cheap at all. But I still decided to give it a shot and remake it.
First things first, I started digging into the history of this Prada Galleria bag. Turns out, it’s made of this special Saffiano leather. They said it’s calf or lamb, and it’s known for being tough, scratch-resistant, and water-resistant, all that good stuff. But for my remake, I can’t use the real deal, I went with full-grain leather instead. It’s not the same, I know, but it’s still pretty durable.
Getting Down to Business
After I got the leather situation sorted, I started gathering all the other things I needed. I found some dimensions online and used those to make templates. I ended up cutting out, like, 83 pieces. Can you believe it? 83! It was a lot of work, but I was determined to get it right.
The Galleria is like, the perfect work bag. It’s big enough to hold a small laptop, or tablet, and some documents, and it still looks good. That’s what I was going for with my remake, I wanted it to be practical, but also stylish.
- Researched the heck out of Saffiano leather and its properties.
- Sourced full-grain leather as a substitute.
- Created templates based on dimensions I found online.
- Cut out a whopping 83 pieces of leather.
Putting It All Together
Once I had all my pieces, I started putting them together. It was like a giant puzzle, but with leather and thread instead of cardboard. I used this special adhesive to stick some parts together, and then I stitched the rest by hand. It took forever, but seeing the bag take shape was so satisfying.
I even managed to find some hardware that looked similar to the original Prada one. It wasn’t easy, let me tell you. I spent hours searching online, and then even more hours trying to figure out how to attach it properly. But in the end, it all came together.
This Prada Galleria Saffiano leather bag, they made from some kinda special leather. I tried my best to replicate it with what I had. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. And I’m pretty darn proud of it. And you know what? It didn’t even cost me an arm and a leg! Way cheaper than buying a real one, that’s for sure.
So yeah, that’s the story of how I remade the large Prada Galleria Saffiano leather bag. It was a long process, with lots of ups and downs, but I learned a ton, and I ended up with a bag that I love. It might not be the real deal, but it’s got its own charm, you know? Plus, it’s a great conversation starter. People always ask me about it, and I get to tell them the whole story.
