Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another project. This time, I wanted to try my hand at remaking a classic – the Large Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. You know, the one you see on the Prada official flagship store? Yeah, that beauty.

So, I started by doing some serious digging. I mean, I was all over the internet, checking out forums, blogs, you name it. I needed to know everything about this bag. What I found out was interesting. Seems like these Prada bags don’t really hold their value, but man, they’re made well. Some folks were saying they have Prada bags that are like, eight years old, and they still look almost new. Crazy, right?

Then I dove into the whole leather thing. This bag’s made of Saffiano leather, which is like, treated and embossed. Not like full-grain leather that gets that cool aged look over time. I learned that full-grain can be either chrome-tanned or vegetable-tanned, and the thickness depends on what it’s used for and what animal it came from. Learned a lot about leather that day!

I also found out that this Galleria bag was launched back in 2007, and it’s still super popular. It hasn’t changed much, which I think is pretty cool. It’s like a classic that just sticks around, you know?

But here’s the thing, I saw some people talking about “Prada look alike bags” or “Fake Prada bags” and they were saying you gotta be careful. I was thinking of remaking the bag, not buying a fake one, but it was still good to know.

Getting Down to Business

Alright, so after all that research, I felt ready to actually start making the bag. I gathered all my materials. I managed to find some Saffiano leather that looked pretty close to the real deal. It wasn’t easy, but I got it.

I carefully studied the pictures of the bag from the official store. I looked at every detail, every stitch, every piece of hardware. I wanted to get as close as possible to the original.

The whole process took me a while, I won’t lie. There was a lot of trial and error. Cutting the leather, sewing it together, getting the shape just right – it was a challenge. But I kept at it, I was determined to make this happen.

The Final Result

And you know what? I think I nailed it. Seriously, the bag I made looks so much like the real Galleria. The Saffiano leather, the shape, the details – it all came together. I even managed to find hardware that’s almost identical to the original.

I’m not saying it’s perfect, but I’m pretty darn proud of it. It was a fun project, and I learned a ton about bag making, leather, and even a bit about Prada’s history. Would I do it again? Maybe. It was a lot of work, but seeing the final product made it all worth it.

So, that’s my Prada Galleria remake story. Hope you guys enjoyed it. Let me know what you think in the comments, and I’ll see you in the next one!
