Oh, this watch, this Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, my grandson showed me the picture from some official flagship store online, says it’s a fancy thing. Says it’s called “Reverso Tribute Monoface”. What a mouthful! Sounds like gibberish to me. But I gotta say, it looks kinda nice, shiny and all. I never seen such a fancy watch, but my old eyes don’t know nothing no more.

He says lots of folks are wearing some fake ones. Imitation, he calls it. This Jaeger-LeCoultre JLC Reverso thing, it got two sides. My grandson tell me all about that. He says one side show time, one side can hide it. Just flip it like a pancake. I guess that’s something, huh? But who cares? I just look at the time, if it’s the real time that’s enough for me.

He says people like to buy those imitation Jaeger-LeCoultre. Cheaper, I guess. Not the real deal, but look the same. Can’t blame ’em, maybe. Not everyone got money to throw around like them rich folks. I don’t understand the rich people, buying expensive watch just to show off? What a waste!

This Watch Got Some History

He was going on and on about how this watch, this Reverso, been around for a long time. Like, since way back before I was even born! 1931, he says. That’s ancient history! He says it is a sport watch, well I don’t understand, it looks too delicate to be a sport watch. But who am I to judge? I know nothing about fancy watch.

This one, the one my grandson was showing me, it’s called Reverso Tribute Monoface. That “Monoface” must mean one face, right? ‘Cause the other ones, they got two faces. This one just got the one. Simpler, I guess. Less to fiddle with. Good for an old lady like me, even though I won’t be buying it. I ain’t got that much money. Even if I had, I wouldn’t spend on such things.

  • Shiny and new, this Reverso thing.
  • Got a big name, Jaeger-LeCoultre.
  • Lots of folks buying the fake ones.
  • This Monoface one just got one face.

My grandson, he knows all about these things. He says this Jaeger-LeCoultre, it’s a big name. Fancy folks like it. They got all kinds of them. Different colors, different styles. This one’s just one of many. He says this one is special, it’s like tribute to the old one. Like they do with dead people, you know. Oh well, these young people and their thing. I’m happy with my old watch. It still works.

All Kinds of Fancy Words

He kept saying words I didn’t understand. “Caliber 822,” “manual-wind,” “stainless steel.” Sounds like he’s talking about tractors or something. I just nod my head and pretend I know what he’s talking about. It makes him happy. It just like the watch version of tractor. Full of small parts, all work together. If one part doesn’t work, the whole thing breaks down. I understand that much.

He says this Reverso Tribute Monoface, it’s special. It’s like the old one, but new. They made it to be like the one from 1931. Why they do that? I don’t know. Maybe they ran out of ideas. But it looks nice, I gotta admit. I saw the picture from the official flagship store, looks good, I gotta give it that. But expensive, I am sure.

He says some folks, they try to trick people. They sell fake ones, pretend they’re real. Gotta be careful, he says. Especially online. Lots of crooks out there. He’s a good boy, always looking out for me. Told me how to spot a fake one. Said to check the little details. But my eyes ain’t what they used to be. I’d probably get fooled anyway. My grandson says if you don’t pay attention, you will get scammed. So pay attention!

  • “Caliber” this and “Caliber” that. Fancy words.
  • Stainless steel, like my kitchen sink.
  • Be careful of the fake ones, lots of them around.
  • Official store is the best place to go, my grandson says.

Real or Fake, Who Cares?

Honestly, I don’t see what the big fuss is all about. A watch is a watch. It tells the time. That’s all that matters. Real or fake, as long as it works, right? But I guess some folks care about that kind of thing. They like to show off, I suppose. Show they got money. Well good for them. But me, I’m happy with my old watch. It was a gift from my late husband, bless his soul. It still ticking, and that’s good enough for me.

This Jaeger-LeCoultre JLC Reverso Tribute Monoface, it’s a nice watch, I guess. For those who can afford it. And for those who care about such things. Me, I’m just an old woman. I don’t need no fancy watch to tell me the time. I got more important things to worry about. Like my rheumatism and whether or not my hens are laying eggs.

So, if you see this watch online, in one of those official flagship store, and you like it, and you got the money, then good for you. Buy it. Enjoy it. Wear it in good health. But if you see one that’s a lot cheaper, and you don’t mind if it’s an imitation Jaeger-LeCoultre, then that’s fine too. Just make sure it tells the time right. That’s all that really matters in the end. Time is precious, you know. Especially when you get to my age. And that’s all I gotta say about that.

But my grandson says, if you are buying the Jaeger-LeCoultre JLC Reverso Tribute Monoface, buy it from the official flagship store. Otherwise you might get ripped off. That’s the young people’s word, not mine.
