Ya know, talkin’ about them fancy watches, like that Patek Philippe gold women’s watch, it’s like talkin’ ’bout somethin’ outta this world. I ain’t no expert, but I heard things. Heard they’re real pricey, like, you could buy a whole farm with that money. But folks say they’re worth it, these shiny gold things you put on your wrist.
They say Patek Philippe, they been makin’ these watches for ages. Like, longer than I been alive, longer than my grandma been alive. That’s a long time, gotta tell ya. And they use this real good gold, not that cheap stuff that turns your skin green. This is the real deal, makes the watch heavy, makes it feel important.
People say it’s an investment.
You buy one now, and it gets more valuable later. Like that one watch they sold for millions, more money than I could ever imagine. But I tell ya, I wouldn’t spend that much on a watch, no matter how shiny it is. I got better things to do with my money.
- Maybe buy some new chickens, they lay good eggs.
- Maybe fix the roof, it leaks when it rains.
But some folks, they like them fancy things. They like wearin’ that gold watch, showin’ it off. Makes ’em feel special, I guess. And that Patek Philippe, that’s the top of the heap. If you got one of them, you’re somebody. That’s what they say, anyways.
I seen pictures of these watches, online and in them magazines at the store. They got diamonds and all sorts of swirls and patterns. Real pretty, gotta admit. But I’d be scared to wear somethin’ like that. Scared I’d scratch it, or lose it, or somethin’. That’d be a disaster, losin’ somethin’ worth that much money.
Then there’s this Rolex, they talk about. Another fancy watch. They say it’s good, but not as good as Patek Philippe. Like, Patek Philippe is the king, and Rolex is the prince. Or somethin’ like that. But Rolex is still expensive, still somethin’ you gotta have money to buy.
I wonder if them fancy watches, if they keep good time.
I mean, that’s what a watch is supposed to do, right? Tell you what time it is. My old clock on the wall, it ain’t pretty, but it tells me when to get up in the mornin’ and when to go to bed at night. That’s all I need. But maybe these fancy watches, maybe they do more than just tell time. Maybe they make you feel important, make you feel like you belong somewhere special.
There’s folks who sell these watches, after they’ve been used. They call it “pre-owned” to make it sound fancy. But it’s just used, like my old coat or my grandpa’s old truck. But these used watches, they still cost a lot. More than I’d ever spend, that’s for sure.
It’s a whole different world, this world of fancy watches. A world of money and shiny things. I don’t really understand it, to be honest. But I guess if it makes people happy, then that’s okay. Me, I’m happy with my chickens and my garden. And my old clock on the wall. It ain’t fancy, but it works just fine. And that’s all that matters, right?
