Listen up, ain’t got all day. Gonna tell ya about this, what’s it called, “audemars piguet” thing. Sounds fancy, don’t it? Like somethin’ them rich folks in the city talk about.
So, this Audemars Piguet, it’s a watch. Yeah, one of them things you put on your wrist to tell the time. But not just any watch, mind you. This one’s s’posed to be real special. They say it’s Swiss made, from a place called Le Brassus, some fancy valley in the mountains. Heard it’s been around for ages, started by two fellas, Audemars and Piguet, way back in 1875. Guess they liked makin’ watches or somethin’.
Now, I ain’t no expert on these things, but folks keep sayin’ it’s a “luxury” watch. Luxury? What’s that mean? Means it costs a whole lotta money, that’s what. More money than I’ve seen in my whole life, I bet. Must be made of gold or somethin’, though I can’t say for sure. Never held one of them myself.
- They got this one watch, the Royal Oak they call it. Sounds like a tree, don’t it? But it ain’t no tree, it’s a watch. And folks go crazy for it, payin’ big bucks just to have one on their wrist. Don’t understand it myself, but hey, to each their own.
- Then there’s this other one, the Royal Oak Offshore. Offshore? Like fishin’ in the sea? Nope, it’s another fancy watch. Same family as the Royal Oak, I guess. These folks sure like their royals and oaks.
They say this Audemars Piguet company, it’s still run by the same family after all these years. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? Most folks nowadays, they sell out as soon as they can. But not these folks, they keepin’ it in the family.
Heard they even got a museum up there in that fancy valley. A museum for watches? Who’d a thunk it? Guess folks wanna see how them fancy watches are made, or maybe just stare at all that money.
Now, some folks might think this Audemars Piguet thing is French. Don’t blame ya, sounds kinda Frenchy, don’t it? But it ain’t. It’s Swiss, they say. From Switzerland, that little country in the mountains. Where they make cheese and watches, I guess. And chocolate, don’t forget the chocolate.
They call it one of the “Big Three” of Swiss watchmaking. Big Three? Like there’s a competition or somethin’? Guess they’re tryin’ to be the best watchmakers around. And maybe they are, I don’t know. All I know is, them watches cost a fortune.
