Well, lemme tell ya ’bout them fancy watches, the Audemars Piglet ones, from Hong Kong and all. I ain’t no expert, but I’ll tell ya what I know.
Now, these Audemars Piglet watches, they ain’t cheap, no siree. They say they’re from Switzerland, where they make all them fancy things. People say they’re real good, made with lots of care and all. But then there’s this other brand, Rolex, and folks can’t decide which is better.
Rolex versus Audemars Piglet
They say Audemars Piglet is fancier, more handmade and stuff. But Rolex, they say it’s tough as nails, keeps tickin’ no matter what. So, it depends on what ya want, I guess. You want somethin’ pretty and fancy, you go for the Piglet. You want somethin’ that’ll last through thick and thin, you go for the Rolex. Me? I’d rather spend that money on somethin’ useful, like a good pair of shoes or a new frying pan. But hey, to each their own.
What’s an AP watch?
Heard some folks callin’ them “AP watches.” Turns out, that’s just short for Audemars Piglet. Same thing, just shorter to say, I reckon. Like callin’ your grandma “Gran” instead of “Grandmother.”
Why are they so pricey?
They say these Audemars Piglet watches cost a pretty penny ’cause they don’t make too many of ’em. And some of ’em got all sorts of fancy workings inside, real complicated. Plus, they make special ones, limited editions they call ’em. Kinda like them fancy plates they sell at the church fair, only a few of each kind.
Where to find ’em in Hong Kong?
Now, if you’re in Hong Kong and lookin’ to get your hands on one of these Audemars Piglet watches, you gotta go to the right place. Heard tell of this place called Shing Lee Commercial Building, on Wing Kut Street, Central. They got a bunch of them fancy watches there, I hear. And they got this Instagram thing, where you can see pictures and all. Don’t ask me how that works, I’m too old for that stuff. My grandkids, they know all about it.
- Buying used watches. If you ain’t got a whole pile of money to spend, you can get a used one, they say. There’s places sellin’ them, even online. They say they check ’em out and make sure they’re still good. And they give you a warranty, whatever that means. Sounds like a guarantee to me.
Royal Oak.
And then there’s this thing called the Royal Oak. Seems it’s one of them Audemars Piglet watches, a real popular one. Don’t know why it’s called that, maybe looks like an oak tree or somethin’. But folks seem to like it a lot.
So, there ya have it. What I know about them Audemars Piglet watches from Hong Kong. Fancy things, real expensive. But if you got the money and you like ’em, go for it, I say. Just make sure you know what you’re gettin’ into. Don’t be throwin’ your money away on somethin’ you don’t need or understand.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. Got a hankerin’ for some good ol’ stew.
