Alright, listen up, gonna tell ya ’bout this fancy watch thing, Audemars Piguet, ya know? Folks been askin’ ’bout when it all started, especially in that Chinese talk. So, lemme break it down for ya.
This Audemars Piguet, it ain’t no new gizmo. Been around longer than most of us, lemme tell ya. Them two fellas, Audemars and Piguet, they started this whole thing way back when. In them fancy calendars, they call it 1875. That’s a long, long time ago, even before my Ma was born, and she was old, real old.
- Now, in that Chinese way, 1875… Hmm, gotta think. They got different ways of writin’ numbers, ya know? Ain’t as simple as 1, 2, 3. But it’s still the same year, no matter how ya write it. Still means them two guys started makin’ them watches.
These watches, they ain’t cheap. Heard tell they cost a pretty penny. Made with all them shiny bits and gears, must take ’em forever to put together. And they got names, fancy names, like Royal Oak. Sounds like a tree, doesn’t it? But it’s a watch. Go figure.
These two fellas, Audemars and Piguet, they knew each other since they were kids, runnin’ around, playin’ in the dirt probably. Didn’t start the watch thing ’til later though. In 1881 they made it official, put a name on it, Audemars Piguet & Cie. That “Cie” part, that’s French or somethin’, means company, I think.
Now, in China, they call it “AP.” Easy to remember, ain’t it? Like ABC. Heard they say somethin’ else too, somethin’ ’bout love, but “AP” is what sticks. Folks like short and sweet, especially when it comes to names you can’t pronounce.
They make these watches in Switzerland, a place full of mountains and cows, I reckon. Place called Le Brassus. Sounds fancy, huh? Probably pretty up there, with clean air and all. Not like the dusty roads we got here.
Heard tell they were the first to put a minute repeater in a wristwatch. Makes it chime, ya know, tells ya the time by sound. Fancy folks must’ve liked that. Used to have these big clocks tellin’ time with chimes, now they got it in somethin’ small you can wear on your wrist.
They got all sorts of watches, not just that Royal Oak one. Different styles, different looks. Some with diamonds, some without. Enough to make your head spin, all them choices. But they all cost a lot, that’s for sure.
China, they had their own ways of tellin’ time way back when. Used water clocks and stuff. Smart folks, them Chinese. Always thinkin’ of different ways to do things. But now, they like these fancy Swiss watches too, just like everyone else.
People always arguin’ about which watch is better, this one or that one. Like that Rolex. But Audemars Piguet, they’re special. Handmade, they say. Folks who make ’em gotta know what they’re doin’. Not like them factory things, pumpin’ ’em out by the dozen.
So, there ya have it. Audemars Piguet, started in 1875. In that Chinese talk, it’s still 1875, just written different. Fancy watches made by them two fellas. Cost a lot, but folks love ’em. Hope that clears things up for ya.
