Oh, you wanna know about Audemars Piguet? Well, let me tell ya what I know. It’s one of them fancy watch companies, ain’t it? Real high-falutin stuff, not for the likes of us regular folk. But people seem to like ’em, so I guess they’re doin’ somethin’ right.
They started way back when, in 1875, by two fellas named Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet. Swiss fellas, I reckon, since they started the company in Switzerland. Place called Le Brassus, if I remember right. Never been there myself, but I hear it’s a pretty place.
Now, these watches, they ain’t cheap. They’re what they call “luxury watches.” Means they cost a pretty penny. Made with all sorts of fancy materials and whatnot. They don’t make a whole bunch of ’em neither. Just 40,000 a year, I heard. Keeps ’em special, I guess.
- They got these numbers on the watches, see. Called serial numbers. Helps ya figure out when the watch was made. Starts with a letter and then some numbers. Kind of like a secret code, but for watches.
- And then there’s this other number, a reference number. It’s got five numbers and two letters. The numbers tell ya about the watch itself, and the letters tell ya what it’s made of. Like gold or silver or whatever fancy stuff they use.
These fellas, Audemars and Piguet, they must’ve known what they were doin’, startin’ this company. Still around after all these years, makin’ them expensive watches. People must really like ’em. Me, I just stick with my old clock on the wall. Tells me the time just fine, and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg.
Now, where they make these watches…Switzerland, like I said. But they sell ’em all over, I reckon. Probably got stores in big cities, where all the rich folks are. You ain’t gonna find ’em at the local Walmart, that’s for sure. But if you got the money to spend, I guess they’re worth it. People say they’re really well-made, and they last a long time. Heirlooms, they call ’em. Something you pass down to your kids.
I ain’t got no Audemars Piguet to pass down, but I got other things. Memories, stories, things like that. Those are worth more than gold, if you ask me. But hey, if you want a fancy watch, you go right ahead. Just make sure you can afford it, and you take care of it. Don’t wanna be throwin’ your money away on somethin’ you’re just gonna break or lose.
So, that’s about all I know about Audemars Piguet. Fancy watches, made in Switzerland, cost a lot of money. They got numbers on ’em that tell ya when they were made and what they’re made of. And they don’t make too many of ’em each year. That about sums it up, I reckon.
