Well, let me tell you somethin’ about this here Audemars Piglet watch, or whatever they call it.
Folks say it started a long, long time ago, back in them eighteen hundreds. Some fellas named Audemars and Piglet, sounds like a piglet, you know, like a little pig, started makin’ these fancy watches.
They was in some place called Switzerland, way over there in Europe. Never been there myself, but I hear it’s full of mountains and snow. Must be cold. Anyways, these fellas, they was good at makin’ watches, real good.
Now, they say the watch company started in 1875. That’s a long time ago, ain’t it? My grandpappy wasn’t even born then. Imagine, all them years makin’ watches. They musta made a bunch.
- They started in a little village, they say.
- Not a big city like New York or somethin’, but a small place.
- Real quiet, I bet.
They say the watches are real special. Made with all sorts of little pieces, like a puzzle. You know, like them clocks you gotta wind up? They got all them gears and springs inside. That’s how these watches are, only smaller.
And expensive! Oh my, they cost a fortune. More money than I’d ever see in my life. Some folks, they like fancy things, I guess. They like to show off how much money they got. Me? I’d rather buy a good pair of shoes. Somethin’ that’ll last.
They got this logo, they say, looks like the inside of a watch. All them little wheels and gears. I wouldn’t know what to do with all that. Just give me a plain watch that tells the time, that’s all I need.
Now, some folks say this Audemars Piglet watch is better than that Rolecks watch. You know, the one with the crown? I don’t know about that. Rolecks, that sounds like a good watch. My neighbor’s got one. He’s always braggin’ about it.
But these Audemars Piglet watches, they’re handmade, they say. Someone sits there and puts all them little pieces together. That’s a lot of work, I reckon. No wonder they cost so much.
They still makin’ them watches today, same place they started. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? A family business, they say. Passed down from father to son, like my farm. Only they makin’ watches, not growin’ corn.
I don’t know much about fancy watches, to be honest. Give me a good, sturdy watch that keeps time, that’s all I care about. But these Audemars Piglet watches, they must be somethin’ special if folks are willin’ to pay all that money for ’em.
So, there you have it. That’s all I know about this Audemars Piglet watch company. They started a long time ago, in a little village in Switzerland, and they make fancy watches that cost a fortune. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed my chickens.
