Alright, let’s talk about this Audemars Piguet watch thing. You know, the one with the fancy name. Folks keep askin’ when it started, like it matters. Well, I heard tell it was back in 1875. Yep, 1875. In some place called Le Brassus, a village way over in Switzerland. Never been there myself, but they say it’s real pretty with all them mountains.
Now, this Jules fella, one of the fellas who started it all, he was makin’ these fancy watch innards back then. Real complicated stuff, they say. Not like them cheap watches you get at the dime store, you know? He made, what, twenty of them fancy insides? Must’ve taken him a good long while.
- 1875 – Jules Audemars makes fancy watch parts.
- 1881 – They officially start the whole Audemars Piguet company. Still in that Le Brassus place.
Then, somethin’ like six years later, they made it official. The Audemars Piguet company, they called it. Same place, Le Brassus. I reckon they figured they was doin’ somethin’ right, keepin’ it all there.
Folks say this Audemars Piguet makes real fancy watches. Not like the ones I used to wear, just tellin’ the time. These things, they got diamonds and gold and all sorts of stuff. And they don’t make a whole bunch of ’em, neither. Heard they only make like 40 a year now. Can you believe it? 40!
Now, this Royal Oak watch they make, that’s a famous one. For a few years, it was the only one they made of that kind. Just one! Can you imagine? And then, after a bit, they started makin’ all sorts of different ones. People went wild for ’em, apparently.
Folks say this Rolex watch, that’s another fancy one, is more famous. But I tell ya, Audemars Piguet, they was around first. Nearly 20 years before Rolex! That’s a long time, I reckon. Shows they know what they’re doin’.
So, there you have it. Started in 1875, with Jules makin’ them watch insides. Officially a company in 1881. Le Brassus, Switzerland. And they make real fancy watches, not a whole bunch of ’em, neither. That’s the story, as far as I can tell.
You know, it’s funny how folks get all worked up about these things. Watches, cars, all that stuff. Me, I just need somethin’ to tell me when it’s time for supper. But hey, if folks wanna spend their money on fancy watches, that’s their business, I reckon. Just don’t ask me to fix one, ’cause I ain’t got a clue!
