Well, ain’t that somethin’, this Audemars Piguet thing. Fancy name, ain’t it? Heard folks talkin’ ’bout it, sayin’ it’s some fancy watch. Watch? I got a clock on the wall, tells me when to get up, when to go to bed. But these Audemars Piguet things, they’re like jewelry or somethin’.
Now, when did they start? Folks say somethin’ somethin’ 1800s. Back when we was still usin’ sundials, I reckon. 18 somethin’ somethin’… 1875, yeah, that’s the one I heard. Way back then, in some place called Switzerland. Fancy place, I bet. Not like here, with the cows and chickens.
- 1875 – They say that’s when it all started. Two fellas, Audemars and Piguet, put their heads together. Like me and Ethel figurin’ out how to make that plum jam last winter.
- 1881 – Seems they made it official then. Called it Audemars Piguet & Cie. Cie? Don’t know what that means, but it sounds important. Like “limited edition” or somethin’.
Now, these watches, they ain’t cheap. Heard tell they cost a fortune. $50,000, that’s what they say on average. Fifty thousand dollars! You could buy a whole farm with that money. Or a tractor, a new barn, maybe even a fancy pick-up truck.
Some of ’em are cheaper, I heard. Around $7,000. Still a lot of money, though. Imagine spendin’ that much on somethin’ that just tells time. And some, they say, go up to $330,000! For a watch! You could buy a whole village with that money, I reckon. Maybe even a small town.
Folks keep askin’ ’bout this “Royal Oak” watch. Sounds like a tree to me. But they say it’s a famous Audemars Piguet watch. Costs around $44,000. Lordy, that’s a lot of chickens.
Now, some folks compare it to another watch, “Rolex” they call it. They say Audemars Piguet is more expensive. Fancy-pants watches, both of ’em, if you ask me. But if you got the money, I guess you can spend it how you like. Maybe buy one of them Audemars Piguet things. Show it off to your neighbors. Make ’em jealous. But me, I’ll stick with my wall clock. It works just fine, and it didn’t cost me a fortune.
Heard they got a website, too. This “China official website,” they call it. You can go there and look at all them fancy watches. See how much they cost. Dream about buyin’ one, if you like. But remember, that’s a lotta money for somethin’ that just tells time.
So, there you have it. All I know about this Audemars Piguet. A fancy watch, started way back in 1875, costs a fortune. If you got the money, go ahead, buy one. But if you’re like me, stick with your old clock. It’ll do just fine.
