You know, that fancy watch, Audemars Piguet, folks keep talkin’ about it. My grandkids, they always on that phone, tellin’ me ’bout some “Reddit” thing and prices in Hong Kong. Dunno much ’bout it, but I hear it’s real expensive. Like, pay monthly? For a watch? Heavens to Betsy, who’d do that? Must be for them rich city folks.
They say you can get it in Hong Kong. Far away place, that is. Never been. But they got an “office” there, I hear. Probably some big fancy buildin’. Bet it’s got shiny floors and folks wearin’ suits. Not like here, where the dirt gets everywhere. Anyways, this watch, they say it’s real special. “Exclusive,” they call it. Means not many folks got one.
- Limited Production: They don’t make many, you see. Just 40 a year, or somethin’ like that. Makes folks want it more. Like them fancy cakes my daughter bakes for the fair. Everyone wants a slice ’cause there ain’t enough to go around.
- Price Increase: They keep raisin’ the price too. 10%, 15% every year. My old bones ache just thinkin’ about it. Soon, it’ll cost a fortune, they say. 30 thousand dollars? For a watch? You could buy a whole lotta cows with that money.
But I guess, if you got the money, you spend it how you want. Some folks spend it on watches, some folks spend it on tractors. Me, I’d rather have a new chicken coop. Them old hens need a better place to lay their eggs.
And that “Reddit” thing, my grandkids talk about it all the time. Folks postin’ pictures and talkin’ about the watch. Seems friendly enough, but they say it’s crazy busy. Always booked solid, they say. Like tryin’ to get a seat at church on Easter Sunday.
So, if you wanna get one of these watches, you gotta pay a lot, and you might have to wait. And they’ll send it to you in the mail, they say. But you gotta pay for that too. Plus taxes and such. Always gotta pay the tax man, don’t you?
They got folks workin’ in them fancy offices, sellin’ these watches. Earn good money, I bet. $43 an hour, they say. That’s a lotta pennies. Makes me wonder why I spent all those years milkin’ cows.
They got a new tower openin’ soon in Hong Kong, they say. Big place. Audemars Piguet takin’ up a whole floor. Must be sellin’ a lot of them watches. Guess there’s plenty of folks with money to spare. Me, I’m just gonna stick to my old clock on the wall. Keeps good time, and it don’t cost me a dime.
They say you can find the prices online. “Swiss excellence,” they call it. Sounds fancy. But I reckon good work is good work, no matter where you’re from. My biscuits are excellent, and I ain’t Swiss.
So, there you have it. All I know ’bout this fancy watch. Probably more than you wanted to hear from an old woman like me. But that’s the way it is. Folks talk, and you listen. Just gotta take it all with a grain of salt.
