Well, well, well, lemme tell ya ’bout this Audemars Piguet thing. Sounds fancy, right? Like somethin’ them city folks talk about. Heard it’s some kinda watch, a real special one. Don’t know much ’bout watches myself, got this ol’ thing been tickin’ for years, good enough for me. But this Audemars Piguet, they say it’s somethin’ else.
Now, they got this French connection, see? Says somethin’ ’bout Jules-Louis and Edward-Auguste, fellas who started it all way back when. Probably wore fancy pants and drank tea with their pinkies up. Don’t know what year it was, long time ago for sure. They started makin’ these watches in Switzerland, a place with mountains and snow, I reckon.
Luxury, that’s what they call it. Means it costs a pretty penny, more than I make in a month, I betcha. But folks who got money, they like that kinda thing. Makes ’em feel special, I guess. Like they got somethin’ nobody else does.
- Heard they make all sorts of fancy watches, with tourbillons and whatnot. Don’t ask me what a tourbillon is, sounds like a fancy dessert to me.
- And they team up with artists, like this fella KAWS. Makes them watches look all modern and whatnot. Probably costs even more with pictures on ’em.
- They got this Royal Oak somethin’-somethin’. Sounds like somethin’ the Queen would wear, all fancy and proper.
This Jasmine lady, she was runnin’ the show for a while. Family business, they say. Guess she knows her watches, been around ’em her whole life probably. But she ain’t there no more. New folks in charge now.
They got these Masterclasses too. Teachin’ folks ’bout watchmakin’. In French, mind you. Don’t speak a lick of it myself. “Bonjour” and “croissant” is all I know. Probably gotta know your stuff to go to them classes, not for regular folks like me.
They’re always doin’ somethin’ new, tryin’ to be different. Workin’ with music folks and whatnot. Keepin’ things interestin’, I suppose. Gotta stay ahead of the game, ain’t that right?
This fella Alain Silberstein, he’s French too, makes watches or somethin’. Sounds like a busy fella, always makin’ stuff. Got this double balance wheel thingamajig. Don’t ask me how it works, sounds complicated.
Headquarters are in Le Brassus. Sounds fancy, doesn’t it? Probably a nice place, clean and tidy. Not like my ol’ place, always dust bunnies hidin’ in the corners.
So, that’s the lowdown on Audemars Piguet, as best as I can tell ya. Fancy watches for fancy folks. Made by folks who know their stuff. Probably last a lifetime, if ya can afford one in the first place. Me? I’ll stick with my ol’ ticker, keeps me on time just fine.
