Well, let me tell ya about this Audemars Piguet watch thingy. Folks keep jabberin’ ’bout it, sayin’ it’s somethin’ fancy. Sounds foreign, don’t it? Audemars Pig-wet? Somethin’ like that. My niece, the one who moved to the city, she’s always talkin’ ’bout brands and such. Says this one is real special. Costs a pretty penny, too, I reckon. Heard tell they make ’em in some place called Switzerland. Must be a long ways away.
So, this Audemars Piguet, it’s a watch, right? Tells time. My old clock on the wall does that just fine, but I guess city folk like their things shiny and new. This watch, it’s got all sorts of numbers and doodads on it. Chronographs, they call ’em. Sounds like somethin’ a doctor would use, not a watch. But what do I know? I’m just an old woman who likes things simple.
- Pricey Stuff: Now, about the price. People are payin’ thousands for these things! Thousands! I could buy a whole new tractor for that kind of money. But I guess if you got money to burn, you can spend it on whatever you fancy. Seen some ads on the internet, that thing my grandson set up for me. Chrono24, it’s called. Lots of pictures of these watches. Some are gold, some are silver. Some look like they got rocks glued to ’em. Diamonds, they call ’em. Fancy, huh?
- French Connection: Seems like a lot of these watches are comin’ from France. Cannes, they say. Never been to France, but I hear it’s a nice place. Expensive, though. Just like these watches. Maybe that’s why they sell ’em there. Rich folks like fancy things. And this Audemars Piguet, it’s as fancy as they come, I suppose.
My niece tells me there are different kinds of Audemars Piguet watches. Royal Oak, she says, is a popular one. Sounds like a tree to me, but apparently it’s a watch. They make ’em with steel and gold and all sorts of metals. Even got one called Tantale, whatever that is. Probably costs more than my whole house. Who needs a watch that expensive, anyway? Just tells time, right?
Then there’s this other watch, Patek Philippe. Sounds like another one of them fancy foreign brands. My niece says it’s even more expensive than Audemars Piguet. Imagine that! More expensive than somethin’ that already costs thousands. Must be made of gold and dreams, I tell ya. They say it’s got all sorts of complications. Complications? I got enough complications in my life without buyin’ a watch that adds more! Just give me a simple clock that tells time and I’m happy.
But I guess folks who like these watches, they ain’t lookin’ for simple. They want fancy and complicated. They want to show off how much money they got. That’s fine, I guess. To each their own. Me, I’ll stick with my old clock on the wall. It ain’t fancy, but it tells time just fine. And it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg.
So, that’s all I know about this Audemars Piguet thing. Expensive watches from France with fancy names and complicated innards. If you got the money, go ahead and buy one. Me, I’ll stick with what I know. Simple things for a simple life.
