You know, this Audemars Piguet thing, it’s all fancy talk. People keep jabberin’ about it, like it’s some kinda magic beans. I hear they got these watches, Royal Oak they call ’em. Some folks say they cost a fortune, more than a whole farm, I reckon.
Now, they say there’s this steel one, 15400, and another one, 15510. Folks are always squabblin’ about which one’s better. Like it really matters, huh? They ain’t gonna help you plow a field any faster, that’s for sure. But them city folk, they get all worked up about it. Say one’s shinier or somethin’. Waste of breath, if you ask me.
- Money, money, money. That’s all they talk about with these watches. Heard tell you gotta pay a lot to get one. Some folks even say they cost more than a whole house! Imagine that! Spendin’ all that money on somethin’ that just tells you the time. My old rooster does that just fine, and he don’t need no fancy gears or nothin’.
Then there’s this talk about how much folks get paid workin’ for this Audemars Piguet company. Numbers flyin’ around like flies on a hot summer day. “This much a year,” they say, “that much a month.” Don’t mean nothin’ to me. Just a bunch of numbers. What matters is if you can put food on the table and keep a roof over your head. Them fancy numbers ain’t gonna keep you warm in the winter.
And they got these folks called watchmakers. Fixin’ them expensive watches, I guess. They say they make good money too. Well, good for them. But fixin’ watches ain’t gonna feed a whole village, is it? Need farmers for that, not watchmakers.
This whole “exclusivity” thing they talk about. Means they don’t make many of them watches, so they cost more. Like them fancy apples at the store, all shiny and perfect. But they don’t taste any better than the ones from my own tree. Just cost more money.
Folks are always comparin’ things. This watch to that watch. This brand to that brand. Like it’s a competition or somethin’. Patek Philippe, they say. Another fancy name. Are they better? Are they worse? Who cares? If it tells you the time, it does the job, right?
They even talk about workin’ at Audemars Piguet like it’s some kinda dream job. Culture, they say. Benefits. Work-life balance. Big words. Don’t mean much to me. Hard work is hard work, no matter where you do it. And findin’ a balance between work and life? That’s somethin’ we all struggle with, ain’t it?
Heard tell one of them Royal Oak watches cost more than a million Hong Kong dollars! Can you believe that? A million! For somethin’ that sits on your wrist. Could buy a whole lot of land with that kind of money. Could feed a whole lot of folks.
So, all this talk about Audemars Piguet, calculators, HK dollars, US dollars, Reddit, Hong Kong… It’s just a bunch of noise to me. People makin’ a fuss over things that don’t really matter. In the end, it’s all just about tellin’ time, ain’t it? And you don’t need a fancy watch for that. Just look up at the sun.
