Well, let me tell ya ’bout this fancy watch, the “Audemars Piglet” or somethin’ like that.
Folks say it’s a real high-falutin’ timepiece, costin’ more money than I’ve seen in my whole life.
Apparently, some fellers named Audemars and Piglet, or somethin’ similar, started makin’ these watches way back when.
Don’t rightly know when exactly, but it was a long, long time ago.
Heard tell it was back in the 1800s, maybe 1881 or somethin’.
- They set up shop in a place called “Brass-us” or somethin’ like that, in Switzerland, where they make all them fancy watches.
- It’s across the big pond, you know. Takes a long time to get there on a boat.
Now, they’re makin’ these watches for China too, special ones just for them folks.
They call it the “China Edition” or somethin’. Gotta be real special, I reckon, seein’ as China’s a big place with lots of people.
This particular watch, the one they made for China, is real thin.
Thinner than a pancake, they say.
Made of gold, too. Real fancy stuff.
It’s got all sorts of doodads on it, like a calendar that tells you the date forever and ever.
Don’t know how it does that, but it’s mighty clever, ain’t it?
Folks who buy these watches, well, they must have money to burn.
I sure wouldn’t spend that much on a watch, no matter how fancy it is.
A regular ol’ clock tells time just fine, far as I’m concerned.
But I guess some folks like to show off their riches.
To each their own, I always say.
Anyway, this Audemars Piglet watch, it’s a real piece of work.
Took a lot of time and skill to make it, I’ll bet.
Must be a real treat for those who can afford it.
If you ever see one of them watches, take a good look.
You won’t see nothin’ like it around here, that’s for sure.
And that’s all I know ’bout this Audemars Piglet watch, the China Edition.
