So similarly to last week there isn’t a whole lot of Idol News this week, but there were a few interesting pieces as well as a few new Music Videos for upcoming releases!

SKE48 releases new short MVs!

To start off this week’s Idol News which quite largely consists of Music Videos, SKE48 posted on July 19th, 2016 on their official youtube channel the short version of the Music Video for their upcoming 20th single Kin no Ai, Gin no Ai (金の愛、銀の愛).

The video is quite different from your standard Idol music video both from a visual standpoint as well as from an actual song standpoint. The feeling the video & song give off is a very somber and dramatic one but it’s one I very much like, and even though the outfits look very similar to the ones for the group’s previous single Chicken LINE (チキンLINE) that’s the only similarity between the two which I very much appreciate. Overall I’m VERY happy with this Single, both from a song standpoint as well as from a Music Video one.

However this wasn’t the only Music Video SKE48 put out this past week, the following day on July 20th, 2016 posted the short version of the Music Video for the coupling song Sayonara ga Utsukushikute (サヨナラが美しくて) which is Shibata Aya‘s graduation song.

Now I personally can’t comment much on Shibata as a member considering I never really actively followed her, however when it comes to the song & video… they’re kinda forgettable, more so the song. The video at least has this nice yet very generic message within it however the use of the other 4th generation members is really sweet.

Kin no Ai, Gin no Ai will be released on August 17th, 2016 and will come in 4 different Types, those being A through D with each one of those also being available in a Regular & Limited edition form with Sayonara ga Utsukushikute only being available in the Type C release of the single. Additionally, there will also be a Theater edition available however this one’s a bit more difficult to get a hold of.

Now comparing these covers with those of the group’s previous single, Silent Majority I do have to say that these are kind of a step back but then again you can say the same about the actual song of Sekai ni wa Ai shika nai when you compare it to Silent Majority. As for the setlists for each release of the single, the only thing that really catches my eye is the fact that the regular edition has the song Bob Dylan wa Kaesanai which makes me really curious to actually listen to that song, but I’ll probably end up getting Type-A myself.

Sekai ni wa Ai shika nai  will be released August 10th, 2016.

HKT48 already loses a 4th gen member?!

Now in some surprising idol news, HKT48‘s official blog posted on July 21st, 2016 that one of their recently announced 4th generation members, Otoshima Risa has been dismissed from the group.

HKT4thgen

The post went on to explain that Otoshima had violated the audition requirement due to her contract with previous production agency still being valid. Otoshima will thus not be participating in the remaining days of the HKT leaving AKB48 group? Referendum Concert 2016 Summer Hall Tour.

Otoshima was a member of avex‘s Idol Street Street-sei group FUKUOKA Hakata Minyon sweet★ so maybe the contract that resulted in her dismissal was related to this though that’s pure speculation. Now when it comes to the actual dismissal, it’s both surprising and not at the same time because it’s not rare for members to have to leave the group when they’ve only just entered but it also is considering this new generation was only announced last week, so to lose a Kenkyuusei (trainee member/research student) after only a week is quite surprising & unfortunate. I wish Otoshima all the good luck in whatever she decides to do in the future!

Okawa Rio will take a break from any AKB48 activities.

To continue the quite unfortunate Idols News, the official AKB48 blog announced on July 24th, 2016 that Team 4 member, Okawa Rio will be taking a break from her AKB48 activities due to her having been diagnosed with Right patellar dislocation.

Okawa Rio

Now to some this might not come as a surprise because of the fact that during the stage performance on July 20th, 2016 Okawa collapsed in the middle of a performance due to sudden pain in her right knee which forced her to be picked up and taken back stage. This might be the cause of her knee not having fully recovered from the last time her knee was dislocated which took place at the beginning of May last year.

No matter the reason though, it sucks to hear that a member has suffered a severe injury which forces them to stop all activity, however health comes first no matter the profession so I just hope that no matter how long it takes she makes a full recovery from it.

NMB48 shows if it’s … idol dance moves in new MV.

And to finally come back to Music Videos for the last bit of Idol News this week, the official NMB48 youtube channel posted on July 25th, 2016 the short version of the Dance specific Music Video for their upcoming 15th single, Boku wa Inai (僕はいない).

Now as the name implies, the difference between this video and the one that was released 2 weeks ago is that this version of the music video is to specifically showcase the dance routine for the song (as well as to give some obvious bikini fanservice). And I always like it when groups do this, because maybe you want to learn the choreography yourself or just look at the dancing alone without any sort of story being told in the music video which usually tends to happen. Either way, it’s another way to enjoy a good song who’s purpose is to say goodbye to a good member.

Boku wa Inai will be released on August 3rd, 2016 and will be available in 4 different Types, those being A through D as well as an a lot more difficult to obtain Theater Edition.

Like I said at the beginning, there wasn’t much Idol News this week but I think the Music Videos make up for that and even though there was some unfortunate news this past week, it wasn’t anything mind blowing or shocking but it still sucks to hear either way.

Additionally, for those wondering as to why there isn’t a lot of Idol News lately, it’s because this summer a lot of groups are busy performing at different venues and events to either promote their group or their upcoming new singles, and that of course explains why lately I’ve been reporting a lot on Music Videos, Covers & Setlists, because the release dates are coming closer companies need to get the fans excited for the new releases.

And speaking of releases actually, here’s a question: What singles are you interested in getting this summer? Let me know down below!
