A new original anime called Shuumatsu no Izetta has just been announced and it came with a very interesting trailer. Original anime are much rarer these days with the advent of light novel adaptations, manga adaptions, etc.

While there isn’t any real reason, original anime always gets me a little intrigued, since there won’t be a “read-the-manga” ending. This doesn’t mean they can’t have inconclusive endings though.  In any case, let’s move on the the info we have on this new anime.

What is Shuumatsu no Izetta?

The new anime project is called Shuumatsu no Izetta, and very little is known about it so far. The website for the project was launched today and only features a key visual and a 20 second trailer. Shuumatsu no Izetta‘s trailer showcases the world of the anime, as well as the main character.  Our main character is a girl, the titular Izetta I assume.  She’s holding a large gun in the visual, I’m curious of how it’s going to be used.  Will we be getting a mix of magic and reality with this series?  That could be quite exciting!Shuumatsu no Izetta

On the production side of things very little is know as well. Shuumatsu no Izetta is being produced by Shochiku, with no studio or director attached so far.  No cast members have been revealed either.  We can hope that some names that inspire confidence might be added to this project in the near future.  The anime takes place during the 1940’s and seems to be about a girl with some sort of powers fighting in World War II.  While we know little about this anime, it looks very promising, and makes me want to know more about it’s world.  Though Japan and World War II can be a bit of a complicated subject, one we’re seeing in this seasons Joker Game.

There is some German featured on the key visual which translates to “Izetta, The Last Witch”. This makes it seem like it might be a magical girl type show with a backdrop of World War II. I would again like to mention that we know very little about Shuumatsu no Izetta, so we shouldn’t get too excited, but it already looks like it should be something to at least keep an eye out for!
