The Summer 2016 Season is almost here, and Weekly Shonen Jump is ready to make a splash!
If you were sad from Assassination Classroom Season 2 and My Hero Academia wrapping up in the next month, have no fear because we have new shows like D. Gray Man Hallow and Food Wars 2 to wet your aptitude for starting in July. To get people excited for these new shows Shonen Jump have released some new key visuals as well as release dates!
Food Wars’s second season, titled Food Wars: The Second Plate, directed again by Yoshitomo Yonetani is set to begin plating up on July 2nd. The new season will be continuing the Fall Elections arc and hopefully beyond that. The new visual shows key characters such as Souma, Megumi, Takumi and Akira, [SPOILERS FOR S1] that will be competing in the tournament, as well as a new character named Subaru Mimasaka, voiced by Hiroki Yasumoto. This is sure to be an exciting sequel to one of the funnest shows of last year.
Don’t forget! An OVA is set to come out with the 19th volume in July as well so look out for that.
Eight years in the making, the new season of D. Gray Man, D. Gray Man Hallow will be starting a few days later than Food Wars on July 4th, directed by Yoshiharu Ashino. The visual shows a group shot of our heroes and villains, all centered around protagonist Alan Walker. Strangely, the visual also has “Part 1” one it, could this mean it’ll be split cour…?
Your favourite Shonen Jump shows are continuing as well!
Along with these sequels, two new arcs of two of Jump’s longest running series are about to begin.
Dragon Ball Super’s new arc, which will feature Future Trunks and a villainous “Black Goku” is set to begin airing in a couple of weeks on June 12th. The above visual shows a run down world, Trunks, Goku, the time machine from the Android saga, and a girl who suspiciously looks like Mai as well.
Best-selling Pirate anime One Piece is also entering it’s new Zou arc, the first arc in the Emperor saga, beginning June 26th. Additionally, One Piece will be getting a new opening song, performed by rock band Kishidan teaming up with long running One Piece singer, Hiroshi Kitadani.
All of this should be very exciting for fans of Shonen Jump anime who were looking for something to watch in the new Summer season, what are you looking forward to? Personally, I’m looking forward to chewing down on some new Food Wars!
