This months Corocoro has released some interesting new information on the new Pokémon Sun and Moon anime series, set to premiere in November, along with it’s first key visual!

The Pokémon franchise has been experiencing a new boom as of late, with Pokémon GO becoming a worldwide sensation. And the current anime series XYZ seeing a resurgence due in part to it’s great animation. Not wanting to let the hype go down, the anime has an exciting new twist on the formula!

What’s different about this season of Pokémon?

The Pokémon Sun and Moon anime will once again feature Ash (Satoshi) as he heads to the new Alola region! The synopsis tells us that Ash is attending school in the Alola region with the goal to graduate. This is an interesting twist as Ash’s goal in previous anime has been to win the Pokemon league. I assume the League will still show up in some form in the anime, but we can’t be sure.

We don’t know for certain if Ash has to go to school to go through the new island trials, which replace the gyms from previous generations, so he can proceed to the league. Or this is some way to appeal to kids who are more hooked on the urban Yokai Watch than ever before.

New key visual!

The key visual features Ash and Pikachu in the center, doing the pose for the new Z moves that are about to be introduced. He is surrounded by new Pokemon native to Alola, as well as the new Rotomdex. Some of the trainers from the game, such as the professor, and Oaks cousin, Sammy Oak, can be spotted on the side. Jessie, James and Meowth can also be spotted in what appears to be a robot Bewear. The new riding mechanic is also shown off with the Sharpedo and Charizard, maybe Ash’s returns once again?

The art-style for the anime is also vastly different from XYZ. It’s most noticeable with the character design for Ash, who looks a bit gooey and rounded. There’s also a couple of screenshots from, what’s likely, the first episode of the series. These feature some of the characters, as well as Tapu Koko, the guardian deity of Melemele Island.

This new announcement succeeded in making me interested in checking out the anime again, what about you?  Are you going to be checking out the Pokémon Sun and Moon anime? Leave your thoughts below.
