In terms of the cast, the following voice actors are reprising their roles from the original 2 films:

Likewise for the staff, Yoh Yoshinari is returning as director and original character designer at Studio Trigger. While Michiru Shimada, who penned the script for the sequel film, is handling series composition.

As well, Shūhei Handa, a key animator in both the original short and sequel film, will handle the main character design. Masanobu Nomura is the art director, and lastly Michiru Oshima is returning to compose the music.

The Little Witch Academia Story Goes Back to the Start

The anime’s story revolves around Akko, who as a child watched the witch Shiny Chariot perform a show, and from then on dreamed of becoming a witch herself. She enters the Luna Nova Academy, a school for witches that Shiny Chariot attended. In this new town she meets new friends and starts a new school life. At the school she has lessons on riding brooms and the wonder of magic, but Akko and her friends Lotte and Sucy keep getting wrapped up in tumultuous events.

This plot outline shows that the series will act as a prequel to the original short film and its feature length sequel The Enchanted Parade as both took place at a later point in time after Akko had entered the school. Consequently, the cast also includes characters introduced to Akko and her friends in The Enchanted Parade. As a result, that suggests the series will jump around the timeline of events.

The full length anime series was previously announced following the end of Studio Trigger’s latest series Space Patrol Luluco and was later confirmed to be licensed by Netflix at Trigger’s Anime Expo 2016 panel.

So what do you think? Excited to see more of Little Witch Academia’s world? To see how Akko first came to the school? Or perhaps you’re interested to see more amazing animation from Yoh Yoshinari and Studio Trigger? Let us know in the comments below.

Just some anime nerd and moviebuff who loves dubs and spends his time consuming way too much fiction. I may also have an evil doppelgänger who plans for world domination...
