Awarding for Nippon 2017 – Celebrating Japanese Pop Culture!

Here at Fighting for Nippon, we love celebrating Japanese Pop Culture. While that usually comes in the form of anime or manga, we also listen to J-Pop, watch Japanese programs and play Japanese video games. This year, as an end of year celebration, we wanted to come together with the communities and public to show our appreciation for everything Japanese Pop Culture!

Join the vote and decide what is the best in Japanese Pop Culture from 2017!

How it Works

Over the past two weeks, the writers for Fighting for Nippon, and a group of hand-picked experts, have chosen 5 different nominees in 11 different categories which they thought were the best in Japanese Pop Culture from 2017.

These nominees now go to a vote to decide which is the best in Japanese Pop Culture. The public and experts are voting separately and once the voting period is over, we’ll tally up all the votes, and the nominee who has the most percentage of votes between the public vote and expert vote will be the winner.

The voting period is open until January 24th!

Fighting for Nippon will then announce the winner by the end of January on its social media pages and via content on the site and YouTube page.

To vote, either go down to the bottom of this page or use this link for the full experience.

Nominees and Categories

The rule to be nominated by the experts were that they had to have wide international release between December 2016 and December 2017.

For films, this is when the Blu-ray was released inside Japan or internationally, whichever came first. For example, Pokemon: I Choose You has already released around the world on DVD, while in Japan it’s still a week away. For series, they would have had to have started (at the earliest) in January 2017.
